I’m not much of a conspiracy fan when it comes to governments and the like but I do spend some time trying to convince people that a lot of the trouble we are in is due to the large grain and sugar companies using their massive revenue streams to bombard us with misleading information. The big line being “May lead to …….(insert health benefit here) if used as a part of a balanced controlled diet. But with the rise of the Crossfit gyms and the parallel rise of Paleo/Primal/Ancestral health that has plenty of shit hot scientists onboard we finally have the data and research to start pushing back the sickness. I understand the duties to the shareholders from the companies perspective and the clever economics/marketing used, add to that really interesting and innovative science and you have a licence to print money, I feel that maybe if I had graduated years ago I could definitely be working in one of these labs. The mix of Salt Sugar and Fat in processed food is captured in a new book of the same name, check this link here for a short review. I only got to read the review today and I haven’t had a chance to order a copy but will soon and give more feedback.
